The Ambassador Cruise

Our private home on the water

For three nights, The Ambassador Cruise will be our home on the water. We’ve privately chartered the ship for our group, giving us the chance to sail through Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay together, explore the islands and caves, and celebrate our wedding surrounded by the bay.

Your Cabin

Accommodations Onboard

Every guest stays in a luxury en-suite cabin with air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a balcony for all three nights. We're arranging cabin assignments β€” you don't need to book a room yourself. We'll be reaching out for your passport information as we begin assigning cabins.

Pre-Trip

For guests arriving early Β· Hotels & transportation

Vietnam is a long way to travel, so many guests may want to arrive a few days early to settle in, shake off the jet lag, and explore before we set sail.

Below are three great places to base yourself before the cruise. Choose whichever best fits your travel style. Each has a straightforward route to the ship on embarkation day.

1

Hanoi

The Capital

Dive into Vietnam's buzzing capital β€” the lantern-lit Old Quarter, unforgettable street food, lakeside cafΓ©s, and centuries of history. It's the most popular base, with the easiest international arrival and plenty to fill a few days.

2

Ninh Binh

Ha Long Bay on Land

Trade boats for sampans among towering limestone karsts, emerald rivers, and rice paddies at Tam Coc and Trang An. Quieter and more rural than the city β€” a breathtaking, peaceful base, and an easy detour on the way to the bay.

3

Ha Long Bay

Right by the Ship

Stay where it all happens β€” Ha Long City sits right beside the harbor our ship departs from. Wake up to bay views and enjoy the most relaxed embarkation morning of all, with no long transfer on sailing day.

Ninh Binh to Ha Long is roughly a 3–3.5 hour drive. We're arranging group transfers on March 30 at 7:30 AM. Prefer your own schedule? A private Grab or taxi is also very affordable.

βš“ Getting to the Cruise

You're already here! The Ambassador Check-in Lounge at Ha Long International Cruise Port is a short taxi or Grab ride away β€” and very affordable. Just aim to arrive by 11:45 AM on March 30.

A & B Travel Plans

Come Along!

You're warmly invited to join us on any part of the trip, or branch off on your own adventure.

Pre-Cruise

Ninh Binh

March 28-30

Before the cruise, we will be staying at Hang Mua Eco Lodge in Ninh Binh. While we're there, we plan to do a sunrise hike up Mua Cave, visit a local night market, and explore Cuc Phuong, Vietnam's oldest national park.

Ha Giang Loop

Ha Giang β†’ Cao Bang Β· April 2–7

After the cruise, we are heading north for a 5-day private Ha Giang to Cao Bang adventure through some of Vietnam’s most spectacular landscapes: the Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, Tu San Canyon, Lung Cu, and Ban Gioc Waterfall.

This will be beautiful, unforgettable, and a little rugged. Expect long riding days, mountain roads, changing weather, and a real sense of adventure. Not the easiest add-on, but the best parts of travel rarely are.

Ride your own motorbike, join as a passenger, or go with an easy-rider driver. We will stay in local homestays, with private rooms available. Keen to join? Let us know.

Phu Quoc

Southern Island Β· April 8–10

Then we trade mountains for the beach on Phu Quoc, Vietnam's tropical island in the south - powder-white sand, clear warm water, fresh seafood, and sunset views. We will be staying at Regent Phu Quoc. The perfect way to relax and recharge before flying home. Come soak up the sun with us!

Choose Your Adventure

Stay & Explore Vietnam

Vietnam is an extraordinary country β€” and you've come all this way, so stay a while and take full advantage. From lantern-lit old towns to mountain passes, caves, beaches, and big-city energy, here are a few of our favorite places worth adding to your trip.

Or Make It a Stopover

You're traveling halfway around the world - why not break up the journey? Stop in whichever country along the way looks most interesting to you. We've heard about incredible places from friends and family, but truly, the world is your oyster. A few stopover ideas people have mentioned:

Japan South Korea France Malaysia Thailand Hawaii Fiji And more

Travel Essentials

Everything you need to know before you go

πŸ›‚ Visa & Passport

Everyone will need a visa for Vietnam. The easiest route is the official e-visa, which is an online application and is usually processed in 3-5 working days. We recommend applying about 2-4 weeks before travel so there is plenty of buffer. Bring a passport valid for at least 6 months. We'll need your passport details before the cruise for onboard registration. Read the U.S. travel guidance

✈️ Flights

Fly into Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi. Book early for the best fares β€” it's a long-haul trip for most of us. Plan to arrive at least a day before the cruise, though we suggest a few days early to acclimate to the time change and rest.

🧳 What to Pack

Wedding attire, comfortable clothes for cave & island visits, swimwear, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, a light rain layer, and motion-sickness medicine (flat water expected). Bring any personal medications you need.

πŸ’΅ Money

The currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Cards work in cities; carry cash for markets and small vendors. ATMs are widely available. Onboard, you'll settle drinks, spa, and incidentals at check-out.

πŸ“± Staying Connected

Grab a local eSIM or SIM card for cheap data, and use the Grab app for taxis. Note: Wi-Fi onboard is available in the restaurant but limited out in the bay β€” a lovely excuse to unplug.

πŸ“‹ Good to Know

No outside food or drink onboard without the cruise's consent. Smoking only in designated outdoor areas β€” never in cabins. The full onboard schedule and dress code will be shared before we sail.
